9-Month Checkup

Today Claire went to the pediatrician for her 9-month checkup. She weighs 15 lbs 15 oz (10th percentile) and is a little over 26 inches tall (10th percentile). The doctor said she looks great and is growing like she should and hitting all the developmental milestones. Our goals for the next couple months are to get her used to eating chunkier baby food and finger foods, and to increase her from two meals of solids per day to three.

9-Month Checkup

I was relaxed during this appointment because I didn't think Claire was going to have to get any shots. But then they told me she hasn't had her third Hep B shot yet so they gave her that and also pricked her finger for an anemia test. It was good that they did the test because they found out she is slightly anemic. This surprised me since she is primarily breastfed. They said I need to start giving her a multivitamin and try to get her to eat more iron-rich baby foods.

Happy 9mos old Claire! I love the pink outfit in the snow pics. We've hardly had any snow.

actually, the iron thing is why they recommend giving bf babies cereal. that's the one thing bm doesn't provide QUITE enough of past about 6 months of age. . . but if you make sure she gets cereal or meats and veggies, she'll be just fine. :)
