6-Month Checkup

Claire saw her new pediatrician today for her 6-month checkup. She weighs 13 lbs 10 oz (10th percentile) and is 25 inches long. She showed off her new skills -- chewing on her toes, rolling over onto her tummy and holding up her head. She was fascinated by the baby in the mirror on the wall next to the examination table.

She still has a stuffy nose from the cold she has had this week. The doctor looked in her ears and listened to her lungs really well and said everything is okay (Whew!). She also gave us the all clear to start feeding her veggies and fruits. Claire loves rice cereal and eats really well from a spoon, so I think she will enjoy getting to try some other foods. We are going to start with sweet potatoes since we know she is not allergic to them after sampling some at Thanksgiving.

Claire was all smiles for the nurse until she started giving her shots. December is going to be a rough month because she had to have an RSV shot last week, three vaccination shots today, and she is getting a flu shot this weekend. January won't be much better because she has to get two RSV shots and a follow-up flu shot. Poor Claire bear.

What a cutie! She looks so happy about the idea of eating her own foot!

Oh Claire! How precious!!!! Seeing Claire and how great she is doing has been part of the fuel that keeps us going while waiting to bring Par home! I know it is SO WORTH the journey--no matter how long it takes--Par sends Claire a big hug! Thank you for being the "blog of hope" that I found when Par was first diagnosed at 21 weeks--it really means a lot to us.
